This site is for testing\/development\/documenting the Canes Players Lists features using WP Import All<\/strong> & FacetWP<\/strong>.

The player list feature allows importing csv files containing player rosters and adds each player to the Rosters<\/strong> post type in the Dashboard<\/strong>. Additionally, custom pages can be created to display searchable\/sortable lists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to enable the Player List features<\/strong>
To use these features, make sure the site has these plugins activated and configured as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Site Config Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • FacetWP<\/strong> plugin activated<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • WP All Import<\/strong> plugin activated<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Customizer>Site Identity>Expanded Rosters Fields<\/strong> set to On<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Add a Player Roster Template<\/strong> file to the Roster post type. This is needed to configure the field names for the import process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    FacetWP Import Settings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Go to the Dashboard > Settings > FacetWP > Settings<\/strong> panel, then select Import\/Export<\/strong> and import the FacetWP Import Settings below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    WP All Import Templates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Go to the Dashboard > All Import > Settings<\/strong> panel, then select Choose File <\/strong>from the Import Templates<\/strong> option

    Import Process<\/strong>
    Currently the data will need to be imported twice for each file so that all the fields are updated. Typically, the Team Type<\/strong> will not get imported on the first import.

    First Import<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Go to Dashboard > All Import > New Import<\/strong>

      New Import view<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Select “Upload a Fil<\/strong>e” and select a csv file<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • After file is selected then Select “New Items<\/strong>“<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • From “Create new<\/strong>” list select “Roster<\/strong>“<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Click “Continue to Step 2<\/strong>“

      Review Import view<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • If the data displayed in “Review Import File” looks good click “Continue to Step 3” otherwise click “Back to Step 1” and choose a different file.

      Drag & Drop view<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • On the Step 3 “Drag & Drop” view scroll to the bottom and select the template named “Player Import includes college<\/strong>“<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • After that loads it should update all the fields with the correct field inputs<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Expand the “Taxonomies, Categories, Tags” section and in the “Type” area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Change the team name to match what is needed for this roster. (ie 17U National – Summer)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Then click “Continue to Step 4”

      Import Settings view<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Change the unique identifier to use this format: first + last + uniform + team id<\/strong>
      Example: {firstname[1]}{lastname[1]}{uniform[1]}u17ns<\/strong>
      Replace the team id “u17ns” with something that is unique to this roster such as the abbreviated roster name<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Change the import options so only the “Create new roster from records newly present in this import file” is selected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Click “Continue”

      Confirm & Run view<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Click “Confirm & Run Import”<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • When the import is complete go to the Roster post type and confirm the players were added. If successful, then continue to the Second Import<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Second Import<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
