MISSION STATEMENT
The New Jersey Devils Youth Hockey Club is committed to delivering a professionally run, comprehensive youth hockey program. The goal of our program is to create an atmosphere that will: foster player self-confidence, develop high self-esteem, and build strong character. We provide a qualified professional staff to instruct our players and offer state of the art programs that are designed for youth to learn and play the sport of ice hockey. Our programs are structured to provide players with the latitude for individual growth that will enable each participant to reach his or her maximum potential as an individual and help to prepare them to succeed in life’s competitive environment. The cornerstone and driving principle of this organization is our Commitment to the development of our youth.
PHILOSOPHY
The New Jersey Devils Youth Hockey Club is dedicated to providing ice hockey programs that are focused on helping youth of all ages and skill levels to learn the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, commitment, self-esteem, discipline and responsibility. The underlying goal of our program is to promote and instill these fundamental values within each individual to last for a lifetime.
OUR HISTORY
The origins of the Club date back to July 15, 1974, when the Essex Rocket All Stars Hockey Club was formed. The Rocket All Stars skated teams out of two Essex County operated rinks, Branch Brook Park and South Mountain Arena. From those humble beginnings the club has developed into a premier youth hockey organization, operating out of the Richard J Codey Arena at South Mountain in West Orange NJ and the RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House in Newark NJ. We currently offer 30 teams for players aged 6 – 19. We also have approximately 80 players enrolled in our Learn to Play programs as well as a thriving Sled Hockey program for players with mobility impairments.
Over the years, the club has proudly advanced countless players to New England prep schools, colleges, and the professional ranks. In 2019 we celebrated our 30 year anniversary and we look forward to the next 30 years of serving hockey players in our community.
