COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Hisense unveiled a new mini-pitch on Wednesday evening at Centennial Elementary School in Colorado Springs, continuing a United Soccer League-led initiative to make soccer more accessible in local communities across the USL ecosystem.
Wednesday night’s unveiling was supported by Musco Lighting, the U.S. Soccer Foundation and Colorado School District 2.
After a brief presentation from all the organizations, Centennial Elementary School students participated in a mini-soccer match on the brand-new mini-pitch with coaching from the Switchbacks Technical Staff led by Head Coach Stephen Hogan. After the match, all the students had the opportunity to get soccer balls and shin guards signed by the coaches.
“It is a joy to grow the world’s game in Colorado Springs with School District 2 and sports industry leaders,” said Colorado Springs Switchbacks President Nick Ragain. “Great soccer talent often comes from humble beginnings and maybe this mini-pitch will be the beginning for another great one.”
The mini-pitch provides an amazing resource for the community of Colorado Springs by helping grow the sport of soccer and encouraging kids to spend recreational time outside.
