Once your new WordPress site is delivered, you will need to migrate over content that was not within your included 10 hours (roughly 15 pages) of content migration. To help expedite that process, start digging into your website content now!
WHAT WILL BE MIGRATED…
Content from public pages will be moved for you, starting 4-5 weeks prior to launch.
WHAT WILL NOT BE MIGRATED…
- Disabled/private pages
- Content with past dates (past schedules, past rosters)
- Large photo galleries
Navigation
Page Content
Menu/Navigation
- Change page names and friendly URLs of public pages
- Move pages
- Remove old pages
Footer links
- Update footer link names and targets
- Remove links you do not want migrated
Hidden pages under Home
- There is an option in WordPress to have public pages that don’t live in the navigation
- Ensure the page statuses are set to public, if you’d like these “hidden pages” moved to WordPress
- Delete any pages no longer needed
- Review pages to ensure the most up-to-date information is displayed
- Google ad placeholders will be placed on your site, but this can easily be deleted
- Begin collecting assets such as:
- Sponsor logos
- Video files
Content Freeze
- 4-5 weeks prior to launch, your site content will be moved to WordPress
- At this time, all major changes should stop
- Keep track of any tweaks made to navigation, page statuses, or public page content so they can be reapplied to WordPress content
Content Prep
- .mp4 video files will need to be uploaded to the WP site shell after you get access
- Code scripts for third-party tools like pop-ups and chat
